History:  Conceived during the period in which his father was bonded to Genis-Vell, the son of the original Captain Marvel, the joining of the two men had a strange effect on Bruce, passing on numerous changes to his DNA that he would not see until adolescence.  As a child, however, Bruce had a happy, normal one, growing up in the company of the children of other heroes, and looked out for as a kind of nephew by most of the Avengers.  He was closest, of course, to Steven Rogers, and Bruce Banner, both of whom he regards as “uncles.”  As such, through his dad, there are few people in the new generation of heroes whom Bruce does not know.

 

Bruce began manifesting incredible strength and other powers when he was fourteen, after which study by Hank Pym and others discovered the nature of his abilities.  Somehow, the merger of his father and Genis had passed along many of the abilities inherent in the Nega-Bands to Bruce on a genetic level.  With the help of the Avengers, he slowly learned to control these abilities.

 

When events forced the children of the Avengers and their allies into becoming the Young Avengers, Bruce took up the mantel of Captain Marvel, in spite of all the baggage that came with it.  He quickly proved himself a capable hero and found himself eventually leading the team, through a wide variety of adventures and unusual circumstances.

 

At the urging of his good friend Jay Walters-Wingfoot, Bruce asked out and began dating Sara Summers.  So far, the relationship has remained positive, though they positively explosive effect their abilities have on each other has sometimes complicated matters.

 

Bruce is currently in his second year at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art.

 

 

Powers: Bruce possesses class 30 super-human strength, enabling him to lift 30 tons under ideal conditions.  He is heavily resistant to damage and conventional arms and bladed weapons have proven unable to pierce his skin.  He is capable flying at speeds up to Mach Two, though he glows when in flight.  Additionally, Bruce possesses the ability to generate photonic energy, which he can use for illumination, power-blasts, and simple constructs like force fields.  

 

Bruce gets most of his energy from solar sources and can exhaust these under extreme use.  However, he can absorb other energy sources and use them to further empower himself.  In addition, Bruce may direct his stores of energy to bolster his strength and speed.

 

Bruce is an exceptional artist with a keen eye for detail and is developing strong leadership skills.
